Worcester Student Writers to Be Celebrated on Saturday

Friday, May 15, 2015

On Saturday, May 16, 100 Worcester Public School students from grades Pre-K to 12 from more than half of the city's schools will be celebrated for their student writing.

WPS, in collaboration with the Worcester Public Library and the Worcester Educational Development Foundation, will be hosting its annual Celebration of Student Writing.

Phyllis Goldstein, English Language Arts Curriculum Liaison for the district, will be hosting the event. Special guest author L.C. Cohen will give a writing talk and hand out certificates of achievement for each student.

Cohen is author of four novels including The Between and its sequel Time and Tithe, as well as Future Tense, and Derelict, a science fiction novel.

The students from 32 schools submitted memoirs which will be printed in a literary magazine that will be given to each student writer.

The event will take place at Worcester Technical High School from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
