Worcester to Host Appreciation Breakfast for DPW Workers

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

Worcester City Manager Ed Augustus and Mayor Joe Petty announced on Tuesday that they will be hosting an appreciation breakfast for the Worcester Department of Public Works & Parks employees on Thursday.

"This was an unprecedented winter, and we are grateful for the men and women who worked tirelessly over the past few months, many times without a day off, to deal full-force with historic amounts of snow and keep the city safe," Augustus said

Augustus and Petty have invited members of the Worcester City Council and Central Massachusetts Legislative delegation to serve the breakfast to the DPW employees as a way of saying 'thank you' for the hard work during this past winter. Worcester was the snowiest city in the United States this year, receiving 119.5 inches of snow and also witnessed its coldest and snowiest February on record.

The breakfast will be held at the Worcester Senior Center at 8 AM. It is being sponsored by the Worcester Credit Union.

“It’s an honor for Worcester Credit Union to sponsor this much deserved recognition of the tremendous work done by the men and women of the DPW this past winter. While consistently providing the city with outstanding services, their efforts during this record breaking, never-ending winter were simply above and beyond. We are very proud to call so many of these workers our members,”said Karen E Duffy, President/CEO of the Worcester Credit Union.
