Worcester’s Public Parks to Open on April 19

Thursday, April 16, 2015

Worcester's public parks will open on April 19.

The Department of Public Works and Parks will begin releasing field permits on Sunday, April 19, at every location with the exception of the Beaver Brook Softball Field and Logan Baseball Field.

DPW and Parks made the decision after inspecting all park facilities for current field conditions, reviewing the weather forecast for the next five days while also scheduling remaining maintenance work.

Meanwhile, Beaver Brook Softball and Logan Baseball field are still wet and will continue to be closed. The Department will review these two facilities at the beginning of next week and believe they will be open by Friday, April 24.

This all comes after the City of Worcester received over 119 inches of snow and experienced one of the coldest three-month stretches on record from January to March.
