What Will Decide the Worcester Mayor’s Race

The range of issues and the concerns about seem to align for an upset bid, but the incumbent Mayor Joe Petty has the power of incumbency and a deep relationship with the Democratic power structure.
Worcester is overwhelmingly Democratic. Of the approximately 100,000 registered voters in Worcester, more than 43,000 are registered Democrats and less than 9,000 are registered Republicans.
Michael Gaffney who started the race with passion and energy seemed to have lost his passion while Petty appears to have hit his stride.
