Monday, December 24, 2012
The announcement of President Barack Obama to name U.S. Senator John Kerry (D-MA) to serve as Secretary of State creates a vacancy and the opportunity for sitting Governor Deval Patrick to name an interim Senator. Patrick has said he will not name a caretaker like former Governor Mike Dukakis, but will name someone who is a candidate for the position and can win the seat in a special election.
According to Democratic operatives and political pundits here are some of the candidates on the Governor's short list or working to get on the list.
