Diehl Blasts Warren Over Army Futures Command Center
Monday, July 16, 2018
This following Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy announcing that Austin, Texas was chosen over Boston as the new home for the Futures Command Center.
“Senator Elizabeth Warren has failed to deliver for us once again. We are now paying a price for her failures to put Massachusetts first. Why would any federal agency choose Massachusetts with such an openly hostile Senator who doesn’t advocate for our state?” said Diehl.
The center will focus on how to modernize the service and prepare for future wars.
Boston, Raleigh, Minneapolis, and Philadelphia were finalists.
The Futures Command Center is expected to have up to 500 employees consisting of a mixture of active-duty soldiers and civilians.
Diehl Continues to Blast Warren
Along with his criticism of Warren over the Command Center, Diehl continued to blast Warren.
“This week Warren announced her intention to vote “no” on the President’s Supreme Court Nominee within nanoseconds of him being nominated. She did not even meet with the nominee. That’s not a thoughtful Senator. That’s a candidate in full campaign mode for 2020. She wanted to grab a headline instead of doing her job. Due to her lack of focus, our state is losing out.
Unfortunately, I am not surprised Warren has failed to deliver. She voted against the tax package that gave 80 percent of Massachusetts taxpayers a break. She voted against the 21stCentury Cures Act that delivered $12 million to the Commonwealth to fight opioid addiction. She did not return calls from veterans for 113 days. There is a pattern of not putting Massachusetts first.
The Commonwealth deserves a full time Senator -- not a part-time Senator, part-time author, and part-time presidential candidate. As your next U.S. Senator, my priorities will not be divided by selling books or running for another office. I will be there for Massachusetts from the time I get out of bed in the morning until my head hits the pillow in the evening.”
