"I wasn’t expecting polish and finesse, and I didn’t find it," Farquar wrote about meeting and interviewing Claros recently. "I found something much better, and much more reassuring – an instinctively conservative Republican."
Carol Claros
Claros, a single mother and working nurse, is running for the seat vacated by John Fresolo. Fresolo resigned after falling under investigation by the Massachusetts House Ethics Committee for an assortment of alleged infractions. His resignation has set up a special election on Sept. 10. The primary is August 13.
The 16th Worcester District consists of Ward 5, precincts 1, 2, 4, 5; Ward 6; Ward 8, and precincts 1 and 5 in the City of Worcester,
Farquar said, "I gave Carol Claros my standard tough grilling. Her answers were on target – not practiced, but delivered in her own words – and everything this old soldier could have hoped to hear."
He called on a broad political spectrum as potential supporters of the new candidate. "No matter if you consider yourself independent, TEA Party, Un-Enrolled, Libertarian, Conservative, old-time Democrat, or mainstream Republican… if you want an honest Rep, work for Carol."
Farquar put out a special call for volunteers to help Claros as poll watchers. "Worcester isn’t exactly known for clean elections," he said.
