NEW: Barney Frank Wants To Be Interim Senator
Friday, January 04, 2013

Frank, who served in the House of Representatives for over 30 years representing the Commonwealth's fourth congressional district until this week, said he would not run in a special election for the seat but has told Governor Deval Patrick he would like to fill-in during the interim during an appearance on MSNBC's Morning Joe on Friday.
Democratic Congressman Ed Markey is the only Senate hopeful that has officially announced his candidacy for Kerry's soon-to-be-vacated seat, and former Republican Senator Scott Brown is widely seen as the front runner for his party in the special contest.
