NEW: Brown Calling Out Warren for Second Debate
Monday, June 04, 2012
Brown's campaign announced the Republican Massachusetts lawmaker has agreed to another debate offer from WTKK, 96.9 FM Boston Talks. The forum would be hosted by former Democratic Cambridge City Councilor Jim Braude and newspaper columnist Margery Eagan.
On Sunday, Brown challenged Warren to an initial debate on WBZ Radio with Dan Rea. She has yet to accept the invitation.

"Debates are an opportunity to get beyond the sound bites and find out where the candidates really stand," said Brown. "Professor Warren has very radical ideas that will kill jobs and make our economy weaker. I believe that in order to create jobs we need to hold the line on taxes, restrain government spending and debt, create certainty and stability when it comes to our regulation and adopt pro-growth policies that will put people back to work. I hope she accepts these first two debates so that we can more fully discuss our differences."
If the two political rivals do end up debating, it will be very interesting. In addition to their philosophical and ideological differences, the recent furor surrounding Warren's heritage - and Brown's attempts to capitalize upon it - should pepper a lively debate with enough spice to keep the moderators busy. There's also the matter of Brown's coziness with big banks - or at least Warren's characterization as such. Warren recently went on the offensive, after being on the defensive for weeks over her alleged Native American ancestry, accusing Brown of trying to sabotage the very financial reform he supported. Brown, Warren said, has tried to cushion big banks from the so-called Dodd-Frank law because he benefits financially from them.
PAC Funding
Warren's comments led to a retort from the Brown campaign accusing President Barack Obama of the same thing. Obama, like Brown, has also accepted Wall Street handouts, as have many other DC politicians. Warren, herself, has been accused of receiving financial support from political action committees, and while Obama has stated his opposition to PAC financing of political campaigns, he nonetheless has taken those donations because it is legal.
