NEW: Former WBDC Pres. David Forsberg Endorses Gomez

Friday, April 12, 2013

Republican US Senate candidate, Gabriel Gomez, received an endorsement from the former president of the Worcester Business Development Corporation (WBDC).

According to the GOP candidate’s Twitter feed, Gomez was, “Honored to have endorsement of fellow veteran & Worcester business/political legend David Forsberg.”

Forsberg stepped down as the WBDC’s president last year as Craig Blais, the WBDC's longtime executive vice president, took over the position. Forsberg took over the WBDC in 1999, after serving as chief development officer at the Massachusetts Port Authority.

Forsberg served the city of Worcester and the Commonwealth in many capacities, including chief development officer for the city of Worcester. During his tenure as Worcester’s economic czar, the new St. Vincent Hospital was built downtown, the long-awaited Union Station makeover got under way, the convention center opened and the Massachusetts Turnpike connector (Route 146) became a reality.
