NEW: Leicester’s Matt Dennison Ousts Longtime Selectman

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Voters in Leicester chose Matt Dennison for the Board of Selectmen, ousting longtime Selectman Richard Antanvica, in a three way race for two seats.

Doug Belanger was returned to his seat on the board with 699 boats.

Dennison was the top vote getter, receiving 928 votes, while Antanavica received 460 votes.

Dennison ran for selectman and lost, both last year and once ten years ago. He campaigned extensively in town, knocking on doors and putting out signs.

"I am so excited to get to work and help be a part of the solution," Dennison said. "I want to thank all of my supporters and volunteers as well as my family for their faith in me. I promise to work hard for the betterment of the Town and I congratulate both Doug and Rick on a clean campaign. The road ahead is not an easy one, but I am excited to get started."
