NEW: MassEquality Endorses King for 16th Worcester House District

Monday, August 05, 2013

Khrystian King (D)

Today, MassEquality announced its endorsement of Khrystian King for State Representative in the special election for the 16th Worcester House District.

“Khrystian King has dedicated his career to fighting for children and families, and many LGBTQ youth in the Worcester area have benefited from his commitment and his advocacy,” said Kara Suffredini, Executive Director of MassEquality. “We are proud to endorse a champion who will lead the fight for equality and safety of LGBTQ youth in the state legislature.”

King has spent 19 years as a social worker at the Department of Children and Families. He volunteered to be an LGBTQ liaison for the office. In that role, he met with LGBTQ young people and worked to ensure that they felt safe and welcomed in their foster homes.

King is also an elected leader in SEIU 509, which was the first labor organization to support marriage equality.

King is running in a five-way Democratic Primary that will be held on Tuesday, August 13.
