Sequera Announces Candidacy for Worcester District 2 City Council
Wednesday, March 25, 2015
Sequera, who is launching her first run for political office, said “I’m running to be a district councilor that builds bridges of communication and innovation in the community."
The District 2 City Council seat is currently occupied by Councilor Phil Palmieri. Recent reports have indicated that Palmieri will be running for an At-Large City Council position.
According to Sequera's campaign, she is responsible for restructuring the Oak Hill Community/Youth organizing program in 2011.
"Many thought this was not possible, we proved them wrong. I had to build bridges with great organizations that provided information and resources. I had to be willing to think outside what is usually done, to create a program that I am proud of,” said Sequera.
Sequera has assured the youth in the program she runs that she would continue to work with them. "I have let everyone know that on Mondays I'm busy from 4:00pm to 5:30pm because I will be with District 2 youth."
Sequera has lived in District 2 for 16 years, where she and her husband own a home and raised their son, Adiel.
Sequera serves on the Board of WCUW 91.3 Community Radio in Worcester, and has served previously on the Citizens Advisory Council for the City of Worcester. Sequera is co-pastor with her husband Jesus Sequera at Ministry of Reconciliation.
