Pretty peaceful, but not compared to its regional neighbors, according to the 2012 United States Peace Report, a major study just released by the Institute for Economics and Peace. While Massachusetts ranked #12 nationwide in the new survey, it was bested by four other states in New England: Maine at #1, Vermont at #2, New Hampshire at #3, and Rhode Island at #9. Only Connecticut was less peaceful, coming in at #14 nationally.
