In a thriling game of back and forth Rhode Island junior quarterback Steve Probst rushed into the endzone to lift the Rams past Brown, 27-24, in the 29th annual Governor's Cup game. A total of 7,622 fans were on hand for the game - the best Meade Stadium crowd in 10 years.

It may not rival Michigan – Michigan State or Auburn – Alabama, but today's at Meade Stadium in Kingston, RI, our unofficial college football state championship game will take place. It’s the 95th renewal of the Governor’s Cup game between Brown and URI and this year’s game has the makings of a good one.

Both the Rams and the Bears are coming in off of strong performances against great programs. Rhody, which had a bye last week, defeated #8 UNH at home two weeks ago 28-25 while Brown knocked off Ivy League-favorite Harvard under the lights amidst a great atmosphere at Brown Stadium.
