Although hip-hop seems to be on the back burner of the Providence music scene, local up and coming rap artist McCoy Price is trying to alter that perception. In just the past couple years, Price has released three mixtapes, been featured on a mixtape released by Lil Wayne’s record label and is poised to make a name for himself outside of Rhode Island.

Black Friday does not exactly conjure up happy thoughts as thousands of people stand in the cold so they can take advantage of special deals while still digesting the previous day’s meal. While so many others are becoming hostile in the parking lots of shopping centers, you could decide to spend the day peacefully walking around the art museum at the Rhode Island School of Design. Ironically, one of the museum’s new exhibits slightly resembles the madness of the biggest shopping day of the year.

So let me get this straight: Thanksgiving is when we sat down with the Native Americans (13 pilgrims and 90 true Americans the first time around, to be exact) to feast on the first harvest in the New World—just before wiping them out with guns and smallpox, stealing their land, and confining them to reservations, only to give them a handful of casinos a few centuries later?
