NEW: URI Contemplating Technology Park

The University of Rhode Island announced today that it is seriously exploring the viability of developing a research and technology park on the University’s north campus. URI officials discussed the idea of building a technology park several years ago, but the project was postponed in light of the recession.

Where is Rhode Island's economy going? According to URI Professor and top economist, there are some positive signs, but critical improvement is needed.

The February Current Conditions Index value, 67, means that eight of the 12 indicators improved compared to their values one year ago. Particularly noteworthy this month was the fact that several indicators improved in spite of very strong “comps” last year.
