According to Arthur Chapman of William Raveis, the state of Rhode Island is already feeling the economic impact of Swift's purchase. "At the closing," Chapman said, "the State of Rhode Island collected $49,662 in transfer tax. Will that solve the pension problem?"
Check out some inside views of Taylor's new digs.
Designed by an eminent Philadelphia architect, this gracious oceanfront estate was built to exacting standards in 1930 and has been carefully maintained over the years. Presently in excellent condition, the 8 bedroom residence presides over 5 ¼ acres of beautiful lawns and gardens which encompass over 700 feet of shoreline.
The grounds are highlighted with a wonderful and large Pebble Tec outdoor pool that enjoys the added benefit of an adjoining newly renovated pool house/fitness center. Surrounding the pool and main house are magnificent walled terraces that offer a spectacular venue for outdoor entertaining with their incredible vistas of sparkling ocean and surf.
This may not be Taylor's red corvette, but she'll have easy access to Watch Hill, which is blessed with miles of exquisite white sandy beaches. The village, with its picturesque yacht-filled harbor, charming shops, and winding streets lined with handsome century-old summer cottages, affords a step back in time to idyllic summer days filled with swimming, sailing, golf, and beachside picnics.
The 16 room residence is meticulously maintained and outfitted with beautiful detailing including hardwood floors, handsome crown moldings, 8 large fireplaces, and expansive floor to ceiling windows that capture glorious panoramic water vistas and take full advantage of the delightful ocean breezes.
A vaulted ceiling Entrance Hall opens to a grand scale Living Room outfitted with white oak hardwood floors, crown moldings, a large fireplace, and a full height window wall—including two sets of double doors leading to the terrace—that reveal expansive ocean vistas stretching from Block Island to Montauk Point.

More interior spaces include a spacious Parlor that also overlooks the terrace and ocean and adjoins a spectacular Sunroom that is decorated with handsome paneled walls accented with fluted columns, and a wall of floor to ceiling windows offering panoramic water views of the ocean, harbor, Fishers Island Sound and the historic Watch Hill Lighthouse.
