Alexander’s 38 Points Leads Holy Cross Past Sacred Heart 72-67

Malachi Alexander poured in a career high 38 points

Malachi Alexander poured in a career high 38 points and also grabbed ten rebounds leading the Holy Cross Crusaders to a 72-67 road win over Sacred Heart on Wednesday night. 

The win improves Holy Cross to 5-7 overall with only one game left until conference play begins.

Holy Cross led 65-57 with 3:34 to play in the game before Sacred Heart used a 10-2 run to tie the game at 67 with 44 seconds left. 

On the Crusaders next possession it was Alexander to converted a layup to put Holy Cross in the lead for good, 69-67. 

Karl Charles knocked down two free throws and Alexander converted one of two free throws to give the Crusaders the 72-67 win. 

The Leaders 

Alexander led the Crusaders with 38 points on 13 of 17 shooting from the field and grabbing ten rebounds. 

Robert Champion added ten points for Holy Cross. 

Next up 

Holy Cross returns to action on Friday, December 23 when they host Marist at the Hart Center. 

Tip-off is set for 12 p.m.

Holy Cross won the NIT Championship game 71-62 over Duquesne. 

The Crusaders were led by Togo Palazzi who was named MVP of the tournament.
