video: Algonquin Faces Concord Carlisle for Boys Lacrosse Championship

Saturday, June 16, 2012

The boys lacrosse team at Algonquin went into its second consecutive state championship game feeling confident.

Unfortunately for the Tomahawks, they fell into a hole they could not dig themselves out of. An impenetrable Concord Carlisle defense kept All American Conor Healy away from the cage all night, and allowed the Patriots to open up an 8-0 lead on their way to a 13-3 victory.

Sophomore Mike Wood was able to score two goals for the T-Hawks, and sophomore Davis Kraft scored another, but Algonquin's chances were few and far between. Even when the Tomahawks did get to cage, it seemed Patriot goalie Doug Gouchoe was always there.

This marks the end of an otherwise spectacular season for Algonquin, who will now look to rebuild around Wood and Kraft, along with junior goalie Giles Ober, junior attacker Keegan Gillis and junior defenseman Brennan Pierce.
