Bears Rout Dartmouth On Senior Night

Sunday, February 27, 2011

When you play college basketball, you spend a lot of time in your school’s gym. Countless days of practice, not to mention the games, it’s quite a commitment.

But when the day comes for you to play your last game on your home floor as a senior, you hope that the experience is a positive one. That was most definitely the case for the four seniors on this year’s Brown men’s basketball team.

Peter Sullivan, Adrian Williams, Garrett Leffelman and Chris Taylor were all honored before the game for their dedication and service to the Brown men’s basketball program. They, in turn, made their final home game a memorable one by wiping out Dartmouth 100-76.

Senior co-captain Adrian Williams led the way with a season-high 26 points which included 7 three pointers. The 26 points were three shy of his career-high of 29.

Fellow senior co-captain Peter Sullivan registered a double-double in his final game at the Pizzatola Sports Center with 17 points and 11 rebounds. As he has done for much of his career at Brown, Sullivan made a living at the free throw line going 10-10 from the stripe.

Garrett Leffelman learned earlier in the week that he was named a second team Academic All-American thanks to his 3.89 GPA as a dual-major at Brown. Leffelman finished with 11 points in his final home game.

And fellow senior Chris Taylor, who has played a key role defensively off the bench all season, scored 2 points while pulling down 4 rebounds against the Big Green.

Ivy League Rookie of the Year candidate Sean McGonagill did nothing to hurt his chances of winning that award. The front-runner for the league’s rookie prize finished with 14 points, 9 assists and 5 rebounds in the win.

Brown (11-15, 4-8) scored 100 points in a single game for the first time since the 2003-2004 season when they scored 20 against Harvard at the Pizz.

The Bears will wrap up their season on the road next weekend at Cornell on Friday night and at Columbia on Saturday.
