Beede Hurls One Scoreless Inning for Team USA’s 10-1 Win in Futures Game

Monday, July 13, 2015

Auburn native and San Francisco Giants pitching prospect Tyler Beede pitched a scoreless inning in relief in Team USA's 10-1 win over the World Futures Team on Sunday. Beede faced four batters in the fourth inning giving up only one hit and throwing 12 of 15 pitches for strikes.

Chicago Cubs catching propsect Kyle Schwarber won the game's MVP award for hitting a two-run triple to give USA a 3-1 lead. Schwarber also threw out a runner at second base.

Sunday's contest was a look at MLB's top minor league prospects and Beede repeated the same kind of performance that he's been showcasing all season. As GoLocalWorcester reported last month, Beede is making quick work of the Giants' minor league system.

Beede skipped Single-A ball and went to directly to play for the San Jose Giants in High-A ball. In 52 innings for San Jose, Beede struck out 37 batters and held a 2.24 ERA and 1.15 WHIP. In early June, Beede was promoted to the Giants' Double-A team - the Richmond Flying Squirrels.

In his debut with Richmond, Beede tossed seven scoreless innings and gave up only two hits. He struck out four and walked three. With Richmond, Beede holds a 3.86 ERA and holding opposing hitters to a .213 BA. He has struck out 23 batters over 37 innings.
