Crusaders Win a Thriller
After trailing 22-19 at the half, the Crusaders led 34-29 after a Malachi Alexander hit a three with 11:31 to play in the game.
From that point, Navy went on a 13-2 run capped off by an Edward Alade layup to give them a 42-36 lead with 6:08 left to play.
The Crusaders would trail 50-48 with Benzan at the free throw line with 11 seconds to play. Benson would make one of two free throws, allowing Navy to hold a 50-49 lead with just seconds left.
With seven seconds left, Navy’s Ryan Pearson would miss a free throw and Alexander would grab the rebound and hand it off to Benzan.
Benson would take it coast to coast and convert the layup with 0.1 seconds left to give the Crusaders their first Patriot League win of the season.
