Boston Celtics Predicted to Win 47 Games, Finish 5th in East
Wednesday, August 19, 2015
According to an analysis of win shares by data experts Graphiq and their sports data site PointAfter, the Celtics will win seven more games than they did last year and finish with a 47-35 record - good enough for the 5th best record in the NBA's Eastern Conference
Win shares is a metric used to determine how many wins a player produces for his team. The additions of David Lee and Amir Johnson will result in 8.3 wins next season. A full season from Isaiah Thomas and Jonas Jerebko will give the Celtics 5.9 more wins than what the pair contributed last season.
The losses of Brandon Bass and Jeff Green will result in the loss of 7.3 wins (off-set by the additions of Lee and Johnson, resulting in a total of 1 more win).
PointAfter's projected 2015-16 win shares (record): 47.4 (47-35).
