Bravehearts Can’t Hold 7-3 Lead, Lose Game One 9-8 in Extra Innings

Friday, August 12, 2016

The Worcester Bravehearts fell 9-8 in 11 innings to the Nashua Silver Knights in game one of the FCBL Championship series on Thursday night in New Hampshire. The Bravehearts return home for game 2 tonight at Fitton Field. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.

Blown Lead

The Bravehearts had a 7-3 lead in the 5th inning before the Silver Knights scored three runs in the 7th inning to get back into the game.

However, Worcester held an 8-6 lead in the bottom of the 9th but  Nashua’s Ryan Sullivan hit a two run home run with 2 outs to tie the game.

In the extra innings, Nashua scored the game winning run when the Bravehearts failed to turn an inning ending double-play.

Game 2

The Worcester Bravehearts’ next game is back home against the Silver Knights for the second game of the series at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, August 12th. If a third game is necessary, the team will remain home on Saturday, August 13th in a winner take all contest.
