Brooks Named First Team All-Big East

Monday, March 07, 2011

It hasn’t been the best of seasons for the Providence College men’s basketball team. The Friars finished the regular season at (15-16) overall and (4-14) in the Big East.

Sunday, however, PC had something to celebrate. Senior Marshon Brooks was named First Team All-Big East.

Brooks was one of 6 players named to the First Team. He becomes the 9th Providence player to receive First Team All-Big East honors. Herbert Hill was the last to receive the honor in 2007.

Brooks has had an amazing senior season for the Friars averaging 24.8 points per game which is second best in the country. His 768 points this season is the third highest in PC history while his 468 points in Big East games is a new conference record.

Brooks is a candidate for Big East Player of the Year which will be announced later today in New York. Notre Dame’s Ben Hansbrough and St. John’s Dwight Hardy are considered the front-runners for that award.
