Thursday, December 30, 2010
Freshman Alex Francis finished with a career-high 23 points Wednesday as the Bulldogs crushed Division III Oberlin College, 71-42, in their return to the Chace Athletic Center in Smithfield. Playing its first game home game since Dec. 8, Bryant (2-10) shot 42 percent from the field to snap an eight-game losing streak. Fellow freshman Matt Lee chipped in with 12 points for the Bulldogs, who fell behind by seven points early in the first half before finally burying the Yeoman (1-9).
Bryant closed the half on a 15-3 run to open up an 11-point lead and then bumped it to 20 early in the second half on back-to-back threes by Lee and Daniel Calandrillo. The Bulldogs hit nine 3-pointers and won the battle of the boards, 39-31. Calandrillo finished with eight points and a career-high four assists.
Andrew Fox led Oberlin with 13 points. The game was supposed to be played Tuesday, but inclement weather forced its postponement. Bryant will close its non-conference schedule Friday at noon against Brown at the Pizzitola Center.
