Butler’s Career-High 28 Points Leads Holy Cross Past Lafayette 85-74

Butler’s points came on 11 of 15 shooting from the field and five of eight shooting from three.
The win improves Holy Cross to 7-14 on the season and 4-6 in the Patriot League.
Lafayette falls to 5-16 overall and 3-7 in the conference.
Holy Cross Holds Off Lafayette
After leading 49-37 at the half, the Crusaders were up ten 55-45 with 14:18 left in the game when the Leopards went on a 15-7 run to cut Holy Cross’ lead to 62-60 with 10:12 left to play.
However, Holy Cross would lock down on defense.
The Crusaders would hold Lafayette scoreless for nearly five minutes while scoring the next nine points to take a 71-60 lead.
Lafayette would not get closer than seven points the rest of the way as the Crusaders hit five of six free throws in the final two minutes to seal the 85-74 win.
The 85 points is a season-high for the Crusaders.
Next Up
Holy Cross returns to action on Monday, January 29 when they host Lehigh.
Game time is set for 7 p.m.
