Celtics Hand Game 4 To Miami 98-90
Tuesday, May 10, 2011
As Kevin Garnett goes, so go the Boston Celtics.
KG was magnificent in game 3 of the NBA’s Eastern Conference Semifinals scoring 28 points while pulling down 18 rebounds. As a result, Boston won their first game of the series against the Miami Heat.
Last night, however, Garnett scored just 7 points on 1-10 shooting from the field as Boston lost in overtime to Miami 98-90.
Last night’s win gives the Heat a commanding 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series placing the Celtics on the brink of elimination.
LeBron James was superb scoring a game-high 35 points to go along with his 14 rebounds. Dwyane Wade had 28 points and 9 rebounds while Chris Bosh had 20 and 12.
Boston’s “Big 3” was led by Paul Pierce who had 27. But Pierce’s 18-foot jumper at the end of regulation rimmed out preventing the Celtics from tying the series at two games a piece.
Ray Allen had 17 but it was Garnett’s lack of production which really hurt the team.
Boston also played with an injured Rajon Rondo at the point. Rondo played with his dislocated left elbow and finished with 10 points and 5 assists.
Boston had plenty of chances to win game 4 but turnovers killed the Celtics both down the stretch in regulation and in overtime. In fact, Boston scored only 1 field goal in overtime while committing 4 of their 16 turnovers in the final 5 minutes of play.
Boston also got demolished on the glass by Miami getting outrebounded by the Heat 45-28.
Now, instead of heading to Miami all even at two, they are on the brink of elimination.
Game 5 will be played Wednesday night at 7pm at the American Airlines Arena.
