Criticizers of Patriots Suffering Wrath of Karma

Thursday, November 05, 2015

Bill Belichick

During the offseason, the New England Patriots, currently 7-0 on the season, suffered through deflategate talk, a $1 million fine and the loss of draft picks as well as the potential of being without Tom Brady for the first four games of the season. That of course didn't happen as Brady won his appeal in federal court and is in the middle of one of his best seasons ever, at least statistically. Nonetheless, the offseason saw Tom Brady in a court room too many times.

With deflategate going on, coaches and owners of other teams decided to chime in to also throw some dirt on the Patriots. Or in the case of Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, he criticized the Patriots after the first game of the season for something that the Patriots have nothing to do with.

GoLocal teams up with GraphIQ to show how the teams that have criticized the Patriots are doing so far this season. Do you believe in karma? You will after this.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts started deflategate after losing the AFC Championship game 45-7 to the Patriots. This season, Indy is currently 3-5, including a home loss to the Patriots in which they ran one of the most embarrassing plays of all-time, and just this week fired their offensive coordinator. Quarterback Andrew Luck has 12 interceptions on the year, and he missed the better part of two games with injury.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have been one of the Patriots biggest rivals over the last couple of seasons and they were the team that began the complaining in the playoffs last season when New England ran a perfectly legal trick play ending with a Julian Edelman pass to Danny Amendola for a touchdown. According to various reports, it appears the Ravens also tipped off the Colts regarding the Patriots deflating footballs.

Baltimore is currently 2-6 this season and quarterback Joe Flacco has thrown eight interceptions.

Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones backed Roger Goodell when asked about deflategate saying he endorses Commissioner Goodell and what a great job he is doing.  The Cowboys are currently 2-5 overall, including a home loss to the Patriots, and lost quarterback Tony Romo to injury in week two and Dez Bryant as well. Romo just returned to practice this week.

Pittsburgh Steelers

While the Steelers did not have much to say on deflategate, head coach Mike Tomlin implied that the Patriots were messing with the headsets after New England beat Pittsburgh in the season opener at Gillette Stadium. Tomlin said after the game that he "was hearing the Patriots radio broadcast" in his headset as opposed to his offensive and defensive coaches.

The fact is, the headsets are controlled by the NFL, not the home teams. To the NFL's credit, they released a statement clearing the Patriots of any wrongdoing right away.

The Patriots return to action on Sunday, November 8th when they host the Washington Redskins.
