Doherty and Nashoba Meet in the GoLocal Game of the Week

Friday, October 26, 2012

Doherty's Noah Robinson has been a force on both sides of the ball for the Highlanders.

This week's GoLocalWorcester High School Football Game of the Week pits two teams in the top-5 of our power rankings against one another at Foley Stadium.

No. 2 Nashoba comes in looking to prove that it, once again, can play with anyone in the state, while No. 5 Doherty comes in looking for a marquee win.

Why is it a must-see game?

Nashoba comes in undefeated and looking to prove it is the best team in Central Mass, but Doherty has the talent to pull off the upset. The atmosphere at Foley Stadium should be electric for the Highlanders' biggest game of the year, and weather could factor into the outcome.

Doherty Offense vs Nashoba Defense

Doherty has a diverse offense, with a plethora of playmakers at quarterback Luke Brennan's disposal. Abdulla Webster stars running the ball, but the versatile back is also a threat catching out of the backfield. If that physical Nashoba front seven, led by Zack Hume, slows things down on the ground, look for Brennan to target star tight end Noah Robinson (pictured) frequently.

Nashoba Offense vs Doherty Defense

The Chieftain offense is powered by star running back John Ojukwu, who may be the most explosive player in Central Mass. Ojukwu has already scored 16 touchdowns this season, and is on pace to rush for over 1,200 yards. But this isn't a one-dimensional offense, as quarterback Jack Sarnoski has developed a great connection with receiver Brady Schartner this season. The two have already combined for four touchdowns through the air.

Clearly, the Doherty defense, led by Robinson and fellow linebacker Denis Isufaj, will have its hands full.

Be sure to check back after the game for full highlights in the sports section.
