Fagundez Leads Revs Past New York City FC 2-1

Monday, October 16, 2017

Diego Fagundez scored two goals as the New England Revolution beat New York City FC 2-1 at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.

The win gives the Revolution their 12th home win of the season, a new club record.

“We have great fans and we actually wanted to give them more and I felt like we could’ve given them more. We could’ve had three, four [goals] tonight. Our guys love playing in front of their fans and tonight they got a lot. They had highs, lows, scares, and whatever else, but our fans are great. We preached all week that we wanted to set the record for best home schedule,” said Revolution head coach Tom Soehn.

Overall, the Revs improve to 12-15-6, while New York drops to 16-9-8.

Fagundez Leads Revs

Fagundez got the Revolution on the board in the 51st minute and then made it 2-0 in the second minute of stoppage time.

Andrew Farrell set up the first goal by finding Fagundez at the top of the box. The goal was his first goal since June 3.

Fagundez's second goal came on a rebound after his breakaway shot was knocked back to him.

Khiry Shelton scored for NYC in the third minute of extra time, but the Revs would hang on for the win.

Season Ends

The Revs will wrap up their season on Sunday, October 22 when they visit the Montreal Impact.

Game time is set for 4 p.m.
