“Fitchburg State University is honored and proud to host this event since it is such a wonderful opportunity for the community to join together,” Michelle Cree, one of the 2012 Event Co-Directors, said. “It's great to see so many parents, athletes, coaches, volunteers, and college students come together to celebrate the achievements of such inspiring athletes.”
The 5th Annual Special Olympics at Fitchburg State University – also known as the North Central School Day Games – is hosted by the Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society and will take place Friday, April 27 at FSU's Elliot Field Athletic Complex.
FSU's chapter of Kappa Delta Pi began hosting this event five years ago, and it has grown each year. This year, the event will feature disabled athletes from over 40 schools from the North Central Mass. area.
“The athletes competing are incredibly courageous to compete in front of over 1,000 people,” Cree said of the competitors. “These students show us that anyone can be successful, no matter what obstacles they may have in life. It's truly an inspiring and uplifting event to be a part of.”
