The win improves Holy Cross to 6-14 overall and 3-6 in the Patriot League. American falls to 5-15 overall and 2-7 in conference.
Holy Cross Holds On
Holy Cross trailed by three, 55-52, before a layup by Floyd and a three by freshman Jacob Grandison put the Crusaders ahead, 57-55.
They would not trail the rest of the game.
American cut Holy Cross’ lead to one, 58-57, with under a minute to go before Grandison knocked down two free throws with 13.4 seconds left to put Holy Cross up 60-57.
American’s James Washington missed a three in the final seconds as Holy Cross escaped with the win.
Holy Cross shot 59.5% from the field and 46% from three.
Next up
Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, January 27 when they host Lafayette at the Hart Center.
Game time is set for 2 p.m.
