He was 32 years old.
Petrus in New England
Petrus played with the Patriots briefly during the 2012 season.
New England signed him in November of that season after both Logan Mankin and Dan Connolly suffered injuries.
He played in two games for the Patriots, before being waived in December.
That would be his last season in the NFL.
Prior to New England
Prior to his stint with the Patriots, Petrus was drafted by the New York Giants in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Arkansas.
In his second season, he started a career-high three games and remained on the roster the entire year.
Petrus was listed as active for New York’s four postseason games, including the 21-17 Super Bowl win over the Patriots.
