Wednesday, November 23, 2016
This also marks the third straight season in which Holy Cross has defeated Harvard.
The Crusaders improve to 1-3 on the season, while the Crimson drops to 1-2 overall.
Big Runs Spark Holy Cross Win
The Crusaders first win of the season can be directly attributed to two major runs that took place, one at the end of the first half and the other in the second.
In the first, Harvard led 20-15 with 5:49 left to play in the half before Patrick Benzan sparked Holy Cross to an 18-5 run to close the half with the Crusaders leading 33-25.
During that run, Benzan scored nine of the 18 points and senior guard Anthony Thompson gave Holy Cross the lead for good on a three-point play.
In the second half, Harvard would cut their deficit to six, 36-30, before the Crusaders would put the game away using a 13-0 run to take a 49-30 lead.
This was run was sparked by senior Robert Champion, who scored five of the Crusaders 13 points during the run.
Harvard would get no closer than 11 points the rest of the way.
