Holy Cross Drops 2nd Straight Game, Fall 60-47 to Navy

The loss drops the Crusaders to 11-12 overall and 5-5 in the Patriot League. Navy improves to 12-10 overall and 7-3 in the Patriot League.
Crusaders Can't Keep up With Navy
Trailing 18-10 with eight minutes left in the game, Holy Cross’ Anthony Thompson scored back to back baskets to cut the Crusaders deficit to four, 18-14 with 7:43 left to play.
From there, Navy would go on a 10-4 run to take a 28-18 lead following a layup by Hasan Abdullah with 3:29 left to play in the half.
The Crusaders would get back to as close as eight, 28-20, before Navy would take a 33-24 lead into the half.
Leading by nine to start the second half, Navy would score the first seven points of the half to take a 40-24 lead with 15:32 to play in the game.
Holy Cross would not get closer than ten points the rest of the way.
The Leaders
The Crusaders were led by Patrick Benzan who netted 12 points on 3 of 11 shooting from the field and 6 of 7 from the free throw line.
Malachi Alexander followed up with 11 points on 4 of 10 shooting from the field while grabbing five rebounds.
Next up
The Crusaders return to action on Wednesday, February 1 when they host Colgate at the Hart Center.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
