The win improves Holy Cross to 1-2 on the season while Yale starts the season 0-1.
Holy Cross Edges Yale
Yale opened the game by jumping out to an early 21-0 lead in the first quarter, before Holy Cross got on the board with a 30-yard scoring run by Miles Alexander.
After recovering the ensuing onside kick, Holy Cross drove 48 yards in six plays to make the score 21-14 on a one-yard touchdown run by quarterback Geoff Wade.
Yale responded with a 20-yard touchdown pass from Kurt Rawlings to Reed Klubnik early in the second quarter, and led 28-14 at halftime.
The score remained the same until the fourth quarter, when Wade hit senior wide receiver Martin Dorsey with a 29-yard scoring strike to cut the deficit to 28-21 with 4:32 left.
After the defense forced Yale to punt on its next possession, Wade found freshman wideout Spencer Gilliam for a 30-yard touchdown with 52 seconds left to play, forcing overtime.
In the overtime period, Holy Cross kicker Derek Nig nails da 45-yard field goal to give the Crusaders the win.

Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, September 22 when they host Dartmouth at 1 p.m.
