Holy Cross Falls 49-42 to Navy in Patriot League Quarterfinal

The Crusaders fell 49-42 to Navy in the Patriot League quarterfinals in Annapolis, Maryland on Thursday night ending their chances of a repeat.
Holy Cross Falls Short
Trailing 31-24 in the second half, the Holy Cross Crusaders went on a 15-5 run to take a 39-36 lead with 4:24 to play in the game following free throws from Karl Charles.
The Midshipmen would score the next six points, all from the free throw line, to take a 42-39 lead with under two minutes to play.
Holy Cross would get a three from Karl Charles to tie the game at 42 with 1:35 left to go.
However, Navy’s George Kiernan knocked down a three-pointer with 29 seconds left to give Navy the lead. The Midshipmen would convert all four of their free throws in the final 20 seconds to seal the win.
Holy Cross shot only 32% from the field and 24% from three in the game.
They allowed Navy to grab 20 offensive rebounds which helped lead to 15 second chance points.

The Leaders
The Crusaders were led by Robert Champion who poured in 13 points on 5 of 8 shooting from the field.
Malachi Alexander followed up with 11 points on 4 of 10 shooting from the field.
