Holy Cross Falls to Iona 82-68

Iona shot 54% from three in the game, with five different players making at least three shots from deep.
“We just were not able to stop them. They have so many different guys that shoot it, it’s not like one or two guys that shoot it, it’s every guy on the team,” said Holy Cross head coach Bill Carmody after the game.
Holy Cross falls to 3-7 on the season and have lost seven of their last eight games.
Iona Pulls Away
Holy Cross held an early 12-9 lead with 11 minutes left in the first half before Iona took control of the game with a 21-8 run to take a 30-20 lead.
All 30 of Iona’s points came off three-pointers.
Iona extended their lead 38-23 heading into the locker room and led by as much as 19 points with 15 minutes left in the game.
Holy Cross battled back, using an 11-2 run to cut Iona’s lead to nine, 54-45, with 10 minutes left in the game.
However, the Gaels would score the next eight points to seal the win.
The Gaels made a Hart Center single-game record 20 three-pointers, breaking the previous record of 15 set in 2015.

Holy Cross returns to action Friday, December 22 when they visit Siena.
