Holy Cross Fires Football Head Coach Gilmore
Monday, October 16, 2017
Holy Cross says a national search for a new coach will start immediately.
“These are never pleasant decisions, but ultimately I believe this is the best course of action for our student-athletes and for the success of our football program moving forward. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Tom for his tireless efforts on behalf of our student-athletes and service to the College. Tom has been a mentor to our student-athletes and a positive presence in our campus community for his 14 years at Holy Cross,” said Pine.
Offensive coordinator Brian Rock will assume the interim head coach role for the Crusaders for the remainder of the 2017 football season.
Tough Stretch for Holy Cross
The move follows the Crusaders’ third straight loss, a 32-0 blow out to Yale on Saturday.
Gilmore had the Crusaders ranked 25th in the country following a win over #9 New Hampshire, however, Holy Cross dropped their next three games to fall to 2-5 on the season.
Gilmore at Holy Cross
Gilmore has served as the Crusaders’ head coach for 14 seasons, starting in 2004.
During his tenure, the team posted an overall record of 72-81 with a 41-39 mark in Patriot League play and one postseason appearance coming in 2009.
