Holy Cross falls to 1-4 on the season and 0-2 in the Patriot League.
Bucknell improves to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
Holy Cross Edged by Bucknell
The Crusaders opened the game by taking a 7-0 lead at the 4:46-mark of the first quarter on a seven-yard touchdown run by junior Domenic Cozier.
Bucknell responded with a pair of field goals by Ethan Torres in the second quarter to cut Holy Cross’ lead to 7-6 at the half.
The Bison took the lead in the third quarter on a 36-yard scoring run by running back Jared Cooper, then made the score 19-7 early in the fourth quarter when Alan Butler caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Bucknell quarterback Logan Bitikofer.
Holy Cross cut their deficit to 19-9 a few minutes later when defensive lineman Neil Vorster tackled Cooper in the end zone for a safety.
Holy Cross quarterback Geoff Wade then connected with wide receiver Richie DeNicola for a 59-yard touchdown to make the score 19-16 with 6:57 left to play.
However, Holy Cross would not get the ball back until just 36 seconds remained in the fourth quarter, and were unable to pick up another first down before the Bison ran out the clock.

Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, October 6 when they visit New Hampshire.
Game time is set for 12 p.m.
