Holy Cross Football Set to Host #9 New Hampshire

Holy Cross opens home schedule against New Hampshire

The Holy Cross Crusaders football team will play their home opener on Saturday afternoon at Fitton Field when they host #9 New Hampshire.

The Crusaders enter the game with a 1-1 overall record and a 1-0 record in the Patriot League following last week’s win against Bucknell.

New Hampshire comes in with a 2-0 overall record and are ranked ninth in the country.

“New Hampshire is coming off two big wins against their rival Maine and FBS Georgia Southern. They are a talented and well-coached team that always presents multiple challenges in all phases of the game,” said Holy Cross head coach Tom Gilmore.

Kick off is set for 1 p.m.

Holy Cross vs New Hampshire

The Crusaders and Wildcats will meet for the 15th time on Saturday with New Hampshire holding an 8-6 lead in the series.

Last season, the Wildcats beat the Crusaders 39-28.

Holy Cross Offense

The Holy Cross offense has been led by Peter Pujals who has connected on 49 of 89 passes for 536 yards and a touchdown so far this season.

His main targets have been wide receiver Blaise Bell and Richie DiNicola.

Bell has hauled in 14 catches for 174 yards and a touchdown, while DiNicola has brought in 13 passes for 142 yards.

Running back Diquan Walker has rushed 15 times for 88  yards and three touchdowns.

Holy Cross Defense

The Holy Cross defense is coming off their first shutout since 2015 with last week’s 20-0 win over Bucknell.

Junior linebacker Ryan Brady leads the team with 24 tackles and two tackles for loss. Senior linebacker Nick McBeath has contributed 20 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, an interception and a fumble recovery, while senior cornerback Alim Muhammad has recorded 14 tackles, one tackle for loss and three pass breakups on the season.

Holy Cross Football Ring of Honor

At halftime of the game, Holy Cross will induct Dr. Eddie Anderson, Dennis Golden, and David Murphy as the 23rd, 24th and 25th members of the Crusader Football Legends Ring of Honor.
