Holy Cross Football Set to Visit New Hampshire Tonight

Saturday, September 10, 2016

The Holy Cross Crusaders (1-0) travel to New Hampshire to take on the #24 (0-1) New Hampshire Wildcats on Saturday night at 7 p.m.

“New Hampshire has been one of the most consistent teams in nation over the last 15 years. They are a well-coached, physical football team that will present us with a number of challenges. We know we will have to play our best in order to have success against them,” said Holy Cross head coach Tom Gilmore.

The last time these two teams played, New Hampshire defeated Holy Cross 38-17 in Worcester.

Holy Cross

The Crusaders are coming off a 51-24 win over Morgan State in their season opener last week.

Holy Cross will be led by quarterback Peter Pujals who threw for 240 yards and three touchdowns last week on 22 of 28 passing.

Catching those passes was Jake Wieczorek who pulled in 7 catches for 66 yards, while Brendan Flaherty pulled in 5 catches for 66 yards and a touchdown.

The Crusaders will also look for production from the backfield led by Diquan Walker who ran for 92 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries.

New Hampshire

The Wildcats lost 31-0 to San Diego State last weekend.

They are led by senior running back Dalton Crossan who rushed for 38 yards on 11 carries and also caught 2 passes for 37 yards.

Quarterback Trevor Knight also leads the way but will look for a better game after only completing 4 of 16 passes for 37 yards and one interception last week.

Looking Ahead

After the game against New Hampshire, Holy Cross will stay on the road and take on Albany.

They will hope to be 2-0 on the season when they go there.
