Holy Cross Men’s Golf Coach Bob Molt to Retire After 4 Decades
Thursday, June 16, 2016
“I am thankful for the opportunity to have served the College of the Holy Cross for the last four decades. I have thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to coach so many outstanding student-athletes throughout my time here, and I am look forward to one final season at the helm and to going out on a high note into retirement,” said Molt.
The announcement comes a short time after the Crusaders men's golf team finished 8th at the Patriot League Championships.
Molt at Holy Cross
Molt took over the Crusaders golf program in 1976 after previous head coach Gerry Anderson retired.
Molt led the team to back to back NCAA Tournament appearances in 1982 and 1983 while claiming a number of Worcester City titles.
In October of 2006, Molt received the Gordon McCullough Coaching Award from the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association. The award is presented annually to a coach for outstanding dedication to college golf, and for contributions to players, fellow coaches and golf committees at local and regional levels.

In recent years, Molt helped the career of Steve Zychowski of the class of 2013 who went on to win the 2011 New England Intercollegiate Golf Association title and was a three time qualifier for the U.S. Amateur Championship.
Molt also helped Matt Czarnecki, class of 2008, who won the 2007 Patriot League Individual title and was selected to the Patriot league 25th Anniversary team.
In total, Holy Cross golfers have earned 13 spots on the All-Patriot League teams under Molt.
