Holy Cross Names Metzendorf Director of Men’s Basketball Operations

Holy Cross men's basketball head coach Bill Carmody has named Dave Metzendorf as his new director of men's basketball operations. Metzendorf's responsibilities will include serving as the team's travel and video coordinator as well as assisting with recruiting efforts, summer camps and day-to-day office duties.

Metzendorf comes to the Crusaders after spending the past three years on the staff at Cornell University. There, he served as an assistant coach for the last two seasons and played a key role in the Big Red's recruiting.

Specifically, Metzendorf coached the backcourt which included two of the Ivy League's top three scorers in Matt Morgan, 19 points per game, and Robert Hatter, 17 points per game, with Morgan breaking the Ivy League single season record for points scored by a freshman.

In 2014-15, Metzendorf helped Cornell to an 11-game improvement from the previous season. The Big Red also ranked as one of the top defensive teams in the nation, leading the Ivy League and standing 18th in Division I in field goal percentage defense.

In 2013-14, Metzendorf was responsible for numerous behind the scenes tasks for Cornell including acting as film coordinator and handling team travel.

Metzendorf received a bachelors degree in sport management from Ithaca College in 2013, and his master's degree in education from Virginia Commonwealth in 2015.

The Crusaders enter the 2016017 season as the defending Patriot League champions.

This season, they return four starters and 12 letter winners off of last year's team.
