Holy Cross Opens Patriot League Play at Boston University

Robert Champion leads Holy Cross into Boston University.

The Holy Cross Crusaders men's basketball team kicks off Patriot League play against in-state rival Boston University at Case Gymnasium in Boston on Friday night. 

The Crusaders enter the game with an overall record of 6-7 overall, while the Terriers enter the contest with a 5-7 overall record. 

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. 

Boston University 

The Terriers are in the midst of a tough stretch, having lost six of their last seven games, including a 77-75 loss to Mass Lowell on December 21. 

Boston University is led by senior guard Eric Fanning, who averages 13.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. 

Junior guard Cedric Hankers has contributed 12.1 points and 2.6 rebounds per game, while senior forward Justin Alston averages 10.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. 

Holy Cross 

Holy Cross enters Patriot League play have won three of their last four games, including a 68-65 win over Marist in their last outing. 

The Crusaders are led by Malachi Alexander, who averages 14.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while knocking down 41% of his three-pointers on the year. 

Senior Robert Champion follows up with 13.7 points and 3.6 boards per game.

Holy Cross vs Duquesne - NIT Championship game

Holy Cross won the NIT Championship game 71-62 over Duquesne. 

The Crusaders were led by Togo Palazzi who was named MVP of the tournament.

Palazzi went as the number one pick in the NBA Draft to the Boston Celtics a couple of months later.
