Colgate led 35-32 at the half and opened the second half on a 13-4 run to go up 48-36 in the game. Colgate would use another 11-2 run later in the half to put the game out of reach as Holy Cross would get no closer then 13 points the rest of the way.

Malcolm Miller led the Crusaders with 14 points on 4 of 12 shooting and teammate Robert Champion contributed a career high 13 points off the bench.

Damon Sherman-Newsome led all scorers by putting on an incredible performance, netting 30 points on 11 of 14 shooting from the field.

Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, January 10 when they host Bucknell. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.

Robert Champion

Robert Champion had a nice game off the bench for Holy Cross, registering a career high 13 points on four of four shooting fro the field.

Champion also added three rebounds and four steals in 18 minutes of play.

Unfortunately his effort was not enough to get Holy Cross a win.

Not cashing in on 2nd chances

Holy Cross pulled down 15 offensive rebounds in the, beating Colgate 15-4 in that department.

However, the Crusaders only cashed in for eight second chance points while Colgate cashed in for five.

Holy Cross needs to execute better when they get those oppurtunities, it cost them in this game.

0-0-0-0-1

Cullen Hamilton played 14 minutes off the bench for Holy Cross had posted zero's across the board, except for his one turnover.

Hamilton went 0-6 from the field, 0-3 from three-point land and didn't make it to the free throw line. He also registered zero assists, zero rebounds, no blocks and no steals.

This is the second straight game, and third in the last four, in which Hamiltion has not registered a point.

Shooting % in the toilet

Malcolm Miller led Holy Cross with 14 points in the game but, like the rest of his team, didn't shoot that well. Miller only converted on four of his twelve shots from the field but went five for five from the free throw line.

Holy Cross as a team only shot 38 percent from the field and 35 percent from beyond the arc.

In fact, and amazingly, Holy Cross has not been over 40 percent shooting from the field since their December 3 win over Albany in which they shot 54 percent.

That is a stretch of 8 games and in a couple of those games, they have not even been close.

Milan Brown

The Crusaders are in the middle of a brutal stretch in which they are 1-7 in their last eight games. In the seven losses, five of them have been by at least 13 points or more. The Crusaders are not just losing, they are getting blown out.

One has to look at Milan Brown during this stretch. He has not changed his starting lineup once during this stretch despite players not being productive and the team as a whole not performing.

Changing the lineup certianly doesn't guarentee a win, however, it makes a statement to the team and maybe gives the team a much needed spark.

Holy Cross was picked to finish third in the Patriot League in the pre season. They are currently 0-3 in conference play.
