Marshon Brooks Impresses At Nike Pro-City League In NYC

Did the Boston Celtics make a mistake not hanging on to PC’s Marshon Brooks? We’ll find out if there’s an NBA season this winter.

We’re a long way off from the prospect of having NBA basketball this year due to a lockout that appears to be far more serious than the one the NFL is currently resolving.

Still, former Providence College men’s basketball standout Marshon Brooks “wowed” those who were in attendance Tuesday at the Nike Pro-City tournament at the Baruch College Gym in Manhattan.

Now property of the New Jersey Nets, Brooks showed the crowd the tremendous offensive skill which was on display at PC this past season.

Despite a leg cramp, Brooks finished the game with a whopping 48 points on 17-32 shooting from the field. Six of his 17 field goals were three’s and he also finished with 5 rebounds.

According to the NY Daily News, the competition at the Nike Pro-City league was what many consider to be well below NBA standards and the caliber of play wasn’t as strong or as organized as you would find in your typical NBA summer league.

Still, Brooks managed to outshine all who were on the court including the likes of John Lucas III and Jamario Moon.

While the NBA tries to settle its labor issues, Brooks will try to keep his game in shape in whatever way possible. He apparently is going to stay in Manhattan for another city league next week.
