video: Mass Resident Aly Raisman Qualifies for Individual All-Around

Monday, July 30, 2012

18-year old Aly Raisman shocked the world in the women’s gymnastic all-around trials, beating out medal-favorite teammate Jordyn Wieber to qualify for the event finals on Thursday.

Raisman, the US Olympic team captain from Needham, stepped out of the shadows yesterday, scoring an over-all total of 60.391 and finishing ahead of the other qualifier Gabrielle Douglas for the top spot among American gymnasts.

Raisman’s performance yesterday proves why she deserves to be on the Olympic team. Her mother Lynn shared with GoLocal the advice she gave to Aly before she left for London.
